+40% In a Bad Economy!

Well folks I’m pleased to announce that the last big campaign I worked on got one of my clients 40% more sales than the same event last year. I was particularly pleased with this as we are right in the middle of the worst economic times in years!!!

Urban Sun Tanning was putting on their yearly anniversary event, this year was the 6th and we were going big. By the time I started working with them we only had a few weeks to put it together to make it a success. The strategy went something like this… Give away free tanning all weekend and make a boat load of money. Sound’s easy enough

We brainstormed all out options, focused or plan and got to work. Below are all the pieces of our marketing plan, every one of them paid for them selves and brought in some great revenue!

Promo Cards

These were handed out in shop the week before the sale as well as passed out in the neighborhood by some promo gals we hired from Craigslist. We managed to burn through 2500 of these.

In house Ad

These were put up in each room and on the front counter for 1 week before the event. Basically the same thing as the card.

Event Shirts

The staff wore these the week before the event. Our promo girls wore them as well the only difference were theirs had printing on the front and the back.

Human Directional Signs

We had a local sign shop fabricate us some sweet custom Human Directional Signs for the promo girls to advertise with. These were out the entire weekend and yes they work well!

Event Menu

I put together this menu to feature the packages that Urban Sun wanted to specifically sell that weekend.

Lotion Menu

To make lotion sales simple I put together this menu to let people quickly figure out what kind of upgrades to their packages they could get. We also printed up hundreds of little red tags and hung them on the appropriate bottles. The idea was, the more you spend on lotion the more upgrades you could get.

One comforter at a time!

Ok Ok so it’s cheezy and sometimes I gag a little when I think that I actually put “Kleaning up La Quinta” but you know what, it’s going to work and I’m happy with that! Seriously though, it’s katchy and klean, what more kould you want?

Sparklean Laundry Center is a start up in Indio (La Quinta) and was in desperate need of some simple insert for the local chamber. Apparently there’s big business in comforters and the competition is fierce! I thought this piece looked pretty dang good for what I had to work with, which was a picture of a comforter and a Katchy slogan… Enjoy!

I had a bad dream…

Lately I have been working like mad on a big event coming up for Urban Sun Tanning Salon. I have put tons of energy into it and loved every second of it. We were waiting on an order of 2500 event cards that we had pushed through the printer without a proof to save time. Well the other night I woke up in the middle of a bad dream. I was dreaming that the cards had shown up and the color was all off and faded. That stressed me out pretty good and all I could do was watch the UPS tracking and wait. Sure enough the cards showed up and were perfect, no stress needed. The staff are stoked on them and will be handing them out all next week. Another great project no stress necessary!

New Ad for Urban Sun

I did this ad for Urban Sun yesterday evening, this morning when I saw it again I was so stoked I decided to post it. Sometimes you just get tired of looking at something your working on and you fear that it’s nominal. You know it’s a good one when you come back the next day and go Ohhhhhhh…

Making Clients Money!

Yesterday was a great day, I pulled up to Urban Sun to see the new banners I had designed and ordered lovingly hung in the windows. I was pretty excited about the new banners, not only because they looked great but because I was excited to see what kind of business they would bring in.

You might expect that a campaign like this would show some reward once you looked at your yearly sales side by side. Well folks, not this one! I was informed when I came inside that the staff would literally watch people walk by and see the banners turn heads. They already had had three new customers that were directly from seeing the banners and a couple new monthly contracts for Tanning! So in the first 2 days the banners nearly paid for themselves, not to mention the lifetime value of the new customers.

We have a few more big campaigns coming up so I’m very excited to see Urban Sun’s sales just go through the roof!

Rubber Hits The Road

Todd Peterson is an inventor, promoter, business man and spear fisherman. I just happened to meet him spearfishing We have been working on a couple projects together, Rubber Hits The Road is the latest. I work closely with Xavisys on any web sites that require custom programming. We are currently making Todd his own Wordpress theme that he can implement on multiple sites including Rubber Hits The Road. He wanted something simple that could be used for multiple businesses. Here’s a little preview.

Urban Sun is a VERY nice Salon in Rancho Bernardo (San Diego) with the latest in technology, a great location and wonderful staff. The owner, Danielle, had tons of great ideas and had semi successfully implemented them during her last 5 years of business. When she first opened she did what a lot of business owners do and turned to a template marketing company. Five years later she was about ready to scratch her own eyes out having to look at it and was nearly desperate to get something fresh!

We decided to start with piece that everyone takes a peak or two at, the shop Menu. I originally started with a female model for imagery then we changed gears mid stream and settled on vectorized models. After a couple renditions we settled on this.

It will live in a nice black Linen restaurant style Menu cover and the prices and packages will be updated every few months. Everyone is very happy with it and it’s a huge step up from their previous menu.

Twisted Scissors

Twisted Scissors is a local Salon with a good amount of spunk! They came to me looking for a new logo and image. We ended up creating a new logo, Business Cards, Menu and we have started on their website.
